Early Years Music
Our Early Years Music programme emphasizes holistic development whereby each child has the opportunity to nurture and develop musical, physical, conceptual and social skills appropriate to their age. Children learn through active music-making. Classes are held in TU Dublin's new campus in Grangegorman. No auditions are required, places are offered on a 'first-come, first-served' basis. The programme fee is €300.
There are three levels of classes:
- Kids' Club 1 (for pre-school children in their final ECCE year)
- Kids' Club 2 (for children beginning Junior Infants in September)
- Pre-Instrumental (for children in Senior Infants or 1st class from September)
Kids' Club 1 & 2
Kids Club 1 caters for pre-school children. They must be 3 years of age on or before June 1st and be in the 2nd ECCE pre-school year. Kids Club 2 is for children who are attending Junior Infants. Classes are 45-minutes long. They are held weekly and run for the full academic year (September - May). Children actively participate in singing and singing games, movement, storytelling, percussion and much more with a specialist Early Years teacher.
Pre-Instrumental Classes
In preparation for learning to play an instrument, these 45-minute weekly classes engage children with music in stimulating and playful ways. Through active musicmaking, the course is carefully structured to introduce children to the basic elements of music fundamental to learning to play an instrument. These include the development of competence in singing, awareness of pitch and a strong sense of rhythm, as well as preparation for music literacy. Classes consist of singing, games, movement, playing percussion instruments and listening to music. In addition, children get an opportunity to meet and hear the instruments of the orchestra.
Applications open from mid/late January each year and close at the end of February.
Applications for classes beginning in September 2024 open on 15th January 2024 and will close on 29th February 2024.

Week off for half term: Saturday 28th October - Friday 3rd Nov (Classes are going ahead on Saturday 4th Nov)
Semester 2: Week beginning 8th January
Easter Break: Week beginning March 25th
Classes resume week beginning 8th April
Last class Saturday 25th May
Please note that with the exception of the October weekend, Saturday classes continue on all Bank Holiday weekends which fall during the semester.
