First Year Orientation
The School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology would like to welcome all of our first year students registering for programmes in our school. The following links below will provide you with information regarding your orientation schedule, the fitting and ordering of essential uniforms, knives, and/or bakery equipment.
You may require additional items depending on your subject discipline and the various modules taught within each programme. We recommend that you download and print relevant information from the appropriate programme links provided below:
Please be advised there are additional costs to be incurred for uniforms and knives on these programmes.
Orientation Schedule 2023/2024
The General University Orientation will take place on Wednesday 13th September on the Grangegorman and Tallaght Campuses.
The School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology also have an orientation schedule commencing the week of the 11th September. Please visit links below to find out when you are required to attend for your programme.

Dates for ordering and collection of knives
Knives must be ordered/purchased online at www.mcdonnells.ie/student in advance and collected in TU Dublin, City Campus – Central Quad (Culinary Shop) on the following dates
Wednesday 13th September 2023 from 13.00 - 15.00 hrs and
Thursday 14th September 2023 from 11.30 - 12.30 hrs
For students on the Tallaght Campus the knives will be delivered weeking commencing 18th September.
Collection of Student ID Cards
If you are a Grangegorman student you can collect your Student ID card on Tuesday 19th September 2023.
