WorldSkills Ireland Guests of Honour at Supply Chain Awards

31 Oct, 2019

WorldSkills Ireland competitors and officials were the guests of honour at the Sisk Supply Chain Awards which was hosted by the construction company's CEO Steve Bowcott last month.

The WorldSkills team spoke to the audience of 750 people which included senior management of some of Ireland's biggest corporations. Donal Keys of TU Dublin and Chair of the IrelandSkills competition introduced the competitors:

Ryan Dempsey (TU Dublin)          BIM Gold Medal Winner @ WorldSkills

Luke O’Keeffe (WIT)                     BIM Gold Medal Winner @ Worldskills

Ryan McLaughlin (TU Dublin)       Bricklaying Irelandskills Champion and Worldskills Ireland competitor.

They each addressed the audience for 1 minute telling them how the last year has changed their lives and careers and how proud they were to have represented their country at the World Olympics for skills! The team received a standing ovation at the event and stole the show as their humility engrossed the audience and enthralled them by their stories.  Donal Keys also delivered the keynote speech on the importance of skills education, and apprenticeship training in construction and on the journey from the Irelandskills live event in the RDS to placing tenth at the WorldSkills International Competition in Kazan, Russia in August.
