Antibacterial

The compounds being targeted within the MDS Group are mainly antibacterial with an emphasis on the Gram-negative ESKAPE pathogens identified by the WHO as being of critical importance. Research is being undertaken into antimicrobial peptides, coumarin-based metal conjugates, metallo-peptides, and calixarene derivatives for the detection of pathogens. Applications of these molecules in food preservation is also being studied.
