Research Interests

Professor Mary McNamara graduated with an honours degree from the Royal Society of Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Inorganic Chemistry from University College Dublin and is a former member (2012-2018) of the steering committee of the Council of Doctoral Education of the European Universities Association (EUA CDE). She is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and an active researcher in the development of novel drug delivery systems.

In Ireland, Professor McNamara is a member of the standing National Forum on Research Integrity which guarantees the continual development and adoption of good practice and provides a strengthened approach to ensuring research integrity in Ireland. She is also a member of the National Advisory Forum for Ireland's National Framework for Doctoral Education and the Working Group designing the Irish Survey of Student Engagement which was piloted with graduate research students in 2018.

Additional Information

Mary manages graduate research programmes at TU Dublin and with the graduate research school team, administers the academic guidelines and regulations of the Institute in relation to postgraduate research awards in TU Dublin. She is the guarantor of graduate research quality assurance and also works with schools and colleges in the development of structured PhD programmes.

Additional Information

Danielle manages the Graduate Research School office and oversees all operations from student recruitment to examinations.

Danielle also coordinates the quality assurance procedures and activities of the Graduate Research School and provides support and information to students and supervisors at all stages of their research programme.

Additional Information

Raffaella supports graduate research students and their supervisors during years 3-4 of the programme. This includes the quality assurance processes for examination, thesis submissions and examiner nominations, annual evaluations, transfers and confirmations.

Raffaella organises viva voce examinations and helps with the arrangements for graduations. She works closely with Colleges and Student Services to ensure smooth integrated processes in relation to all above tasks.

Additional Information

Giovanna graduated in 2017 from TU Dublin with a PhD thesis entitled "Formations of Indian Cinema in Dublin: a Participatory Researcher-Fan Ethnography".

Giovanna looks after the module selection process and recording of module results for postgraduate students. Additionally, Giovanna is liaising with IS to ensure that all systems can effectively accommodate research programmes and student’s details.

Additional Information

Trevor supports graduate research students and their supervisors during years 1-2 of the programme, including the quality assurance processes for admission and registration. Trevor works closely with the International Offices and Finance Services.
