By doing a little research you can increase your chances of being funded.

  • When funding is awarded there is usually a press release…note who was funded and try and collaborate with them in the future if they are in your area of interest. Don’t forget that you will need to collaborate with all disciplines so don’t just look at your own area of interest! Create your own database of all those who are considered experts in your area.

  • CORDIS is a database of funded European projects.
If a Horizon Europe call opens, it is always useful to check this, as the EU is not going to fund two projects with the same overall aims and objectives.

  • Research Professional, open to TU Dublin staff and students, has a searchable Awards section which contains information on awards granted by a number of funding agencies and Horizon programmes.

  • The EPA website has great links to data resources and funded projects. Check to see if there is information that is relevant to your area of research.

Once you have developed your research project idea you will need to search out funding opportunities. If you need any help getting set up or managing your funding alerts please don't hesitate to contact e: research@tudublin.ie

TU Dublin students and staff have access to Research Professional our research funding database.

This database contains details of hundreds of funding opportunities. Individuals can set up their own alerts to receive weekly updates on a range of focused calls. TU Dublin staff and students can access all Irish Funding for a live feed of open National calls. To access Research Professional you must be on campus or connected via VPN.

The main national funders are:

  • Where a State body has a specific need for small pieces of research to be completed they will be advertised on e-tenders.

There are many different agencies that fund research in Ireland and you should use Research Professional to conduct a targeted search for your area of research.

  • The Irish central point of information is the Horizon Europe website where you can sign up for regular updates. National Contact Points are responsible for supporting Irish researchers making funding applications. Find their contact details there also.
  • The Horizon Europe Participant Portal is a searchable database of Horizon Europe calls and also the place where you submit your research proposals.
  • You can also search for Horizon Europe calls on Research Professional
  • The European Commission has organised lots of information events about Horizon Europe calls. The events are recorded. Future and past event information is available here.
