Complex Numbers

Definition, Basic Operations, Complex Conjugate, Modulus and Argument, Polar Form, Euler's Formula and Applications.

Matrices and Determinants

Square Matrices, Matrix Operations, Determinants, Inverse Matrices, Systems of Linear Equations, Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, Applications to Molecular Orbital Theory and Huckel Theory of Electron Distribution.

Functions of Several Variables:

Review of Differentiation and Integration. Introduction to Functions of Several Variables, Partial Derivatives, Definition of Increments and Differentials, Exact Differentials and their use in the Laws of Thermodynamics, Internal Energy, Enthalpy and Heat Capacities, Entropy, Clapeyron equation for Phase Transitions.

Numerical Integration:

Trapezoidal Rule, Simpson's Rule, Applications
