The Major Project is the culmination of the learning experience and is designed to enable students to consolidate their knowledge, skills and experience acquired over the course of the programme. The Major Project comprises the creation of a digital media artefact and an accompanying critical commentary of between 14,000-16,000 words.
Supervision
Candidates work with a primary supervisor and may also consult with other experts among the lecturing staff or those engaged in the Digital Media Centre
Self Directed
The majority of this module is self-directed learning where candidates work from the Major Project design specification they produced in the second semester. Together with input from their supervisor(s) the candidates seek to build a fully functional, interactive digital artefact.
The teaching approach in this module is primarily project-based, emphasising experiential learning. Through regular one-on-one meetings with their supervisor, students are encouraged to reflect on their progress, set milestones, and engage in problem-solving strategies. This reflective practice helps students refine their skills in time management, research, and creative or technical execution.
