Programme Title: Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering

Under 23 years applicants must have ordinary level Grade 06 or better in five subjects. The subject list must include either English or Irish. Ordinary level Mathematics Grade 06 or better is also a requirement to apply for year one of this course.

If a Mature student (over 23 years on 1 January 2020) you may be exempted from this requirement and are eligible to apply.

  • All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English.

The programme provides students with an understanding of engineering principles and the ability to solve engineering problems across a range of different fields. It is a strong technically focused programme, producing highly analytical engineers with the ability for critical thinking. Mechanical Engineers provide creative and inventive solutions for society across a broad spectrum of technologies.

Many opportunities are available to the experienced professional engineer in the area of design, project management, or a career in management. Graduates of this programme currently work in medical device, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, bio-pharma, construction, power generation and the food processing industries.
