If you are under 23 years old on 1 January you must have achieved Grade D3 in five Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English or Irish or a FETAC Level 5 qualification or equivalent unless otherwise stated. That is 5 subjects: O6/H7, English or Irish: O6/H7 and Mathematics: O6/H7, or better to apply for this programme.
If a Mature student (over 23 years on 1 January 2020) you may be exempted from this requirement but you must have a pass in ordinary level mathematics or equivalent to be eligible for admission to the programme. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English.
This programme brings you through the skills and knowledge needed to design and implement computer networks. While CISCO platforms are used as the key teaching technologies other approaches to network design and implementation are also covered. TU Dublin Tallaght is a CISCO academy and students of this programme will have the opportunity to take CISCO examinations at extra cost to obtain professional certification.
Successful graduates will obtain 20 credits across four networking subjects which can be used to obtain credit towards a BSc in IT Management in TU Dublin Tallaght.
Graduates of this programme will be qualified to work in entry level positions in network administration, network management, network design and will have the necessary foundation in networking to be trained into a variety of relevant roles in the IT industry. The practical elements of the programme will be based around the internationally recognised CISCO CCNA programme with the lecture material having a broader education focus which, while covering the CISCO material will give a more general foundation in networking.
