Course Title: Master of Science in Business (International)
Applicants with an Honours Bachelor Degree in Business (2.1 or higher) or equivalent will be considered first.
- Any places that may then be remaining will be allotted to suitable applicants with an Honours Degree in Business, overall 2.2 grade
- Equivalent professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) will also be considered.
- Applicants whose first language is not English, please note that the minimum English language proficiency requirement for this course is IELTS 6.5 or an equivalent grade achieved in another Institute recognised certificate.
If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website. Applicants for this programme should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.
Note: Due to the considerable competition for our postgraduate programmes, satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Depending on the programme of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific programmes.

If you do not yet have your final degree results this will not hinder your application as we are happy to issue conditional offer letters in such circumstances.
This masters programme is an exciting one-year full-time programme dedicated to growing business graduates into the international business people of the future. Internationally Ireland and Irish business is renowned for having a global outlook, illustrated by the country's success at attracting MNC's, and the accomplishments of indigenous champions. This programme will capitalise on this well-deserved reputation to attract an international diverse mix of business graduates, which is just part of the key philosophy of the programme- 'Everything global'.
The target audience for this pre-experience and postgraduate qualification is primarily graduate students who wish to build on their existing learning and have an aspiration to reach a senior management position in an international business. We envisage that graduates of the course are likely to be attracted into a diverse range of International Business environments, including international markets management, international management, international marketing, international operations management, enterprise management, general management, cross cultural management, managing subsidiaries, cross cultural product and brand management and international finance and economics roles. There is also a range of opportunities in the public sector; analytical and promotional roles would be available to the participants in enterprise/industrial agencies and in the educational sector. The career path chosen by the participant will depend on the graduate's background and the topic chosen for the dissertation.
The philosophy underlying this Masters in International Business is to focus on providing a rigorous business education for high calibre graduates to prepare them for lifelong careers in international business. It is intended that students will have already undertaken their academic formation in a variety of business disciplines and that this course will both broaden and deepen their intellectual capacity in the theme of international business. Each element of the programme is designed to act as a building block towards further academic development.
There are four elements to the programme.
The first semester, is classroom based and runs from September to the end of December. It introduces participants to a range of subjects in the area of International Business:
- International Strategic Management
- International Organisational Behaviour and HRM
- International Marketing
- International Operations Management and Information Systems
- International Regulatory Environment
- International Finance and Economics
The first half of the second semester is an eclectic range of multi-disciplinary seminars, delivered by a range of visiting academics and practitioners, as well as DIT's faculty members, each seminar dealing with a topic at the cutting edge of the discipline of International Business. This series is organised into four themes and runs from early January to late February. Usually it also assists students in finding a research topic for their dissertation.
A unique feature of this programme provides students with the opportunity to undertake a group-based consulting project in an international context for real-world clients. Teams are assigned to projects in February. Early in March they prepare a work plan in consultation with their client and undertake background research and analysis. In early April teams spend around 1 week on assignment in an international business school before returning to DIT to complete the project.
International Study Visit
A key feature of this course is the opportunity students have to make an international study visit. This week-long visit occurs in Semester, 2, and includes site visits to large and small international organisations, as well as lectures with an international academic partner. In recent years we have visited Germany and included trips to Mercedes, SAP and BASF.
The capstone of this programmer is the dissertation, which involves independent learning in the completion of a research task (submitted during early September), under the guidance of a supervisor.
