Honours bachelor degree in science or related discipline at 2.2 grade or higher or equivalent qualification.  Selection will be by interview.

Depending on the programme of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants will also be required to attend for interview.

If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website.  Applicants for this programme should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.

TU258 MSc Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Biotechnology (Full Time): This programme is offered on a one year full—time basis followed by a 6 months industry based dissertation. It is designed to provide a bridge for graduates with a degree in science or related disciplines to the specific requirements of the pharmaceutical sector. The programme offers a broad based curriculum covering aspects of quality assurance, auditing, manufacturing and pharmaceutical science and biotechnology.  

The lecture course is divided into twelve modules of 20 hours each. Full-time students undertake twelve modules over two semesters. On successful completion of the twelve modules, students will undertake a 6 months industrially based dissertation.

There is a dissertation component to the MSc which is carried out while the student is working. It is the responsibility of the student to find work.

  • Medicinal Chemistry and Process Design & Development for API Production 
  • Biopharmaceutical Analysis 
  • Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Aseptic Manufacture
  • Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • Process Validation for Biopharmaceuticals

Full-time students will normally have an average of fourteen contact hours per week. The modules are normally delivered on 2 mornings, 2 afternoons, 2 evenings and a Saturday morning.  The exact timetable will be confirmed before the commencement of each semester.
