The hospitality industry in Ireland and worldwide is performing very strongly and needs qualified graduates to work in and run operations in this sector. It’s a great industry if you’re interested in travel, as positions are plentiful and the financial rewards are attractive.
In this dynamic course, you’ll learn how to be a competent manager in any functional area in a hospitality business, whether in a top hotel or resort, or to open your own restaurant, hotel or bar.
The industry-focused curriculum is taught through a range of practical and academic learning styles to maximise the learning experience. You’ll learn all the business skills you need to equip you for management while getting plenty of opportunities to put your skills into practice.
The combination of key business subjects – such as Management, Communications, Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management – with essential operational subjects – such as Hospitality Industry Studies, Rooms Division, Food and Beverage Management – ensures that our graduates are well equipped for a successful career in the sector.
Since European languages are increasingly important in the world of work, students can choose to study a European language.

Our internship programme provide you with opportunities to take your work placement in Ireland or abroad through the links our school has with industry.Work Placement. There’s a six-month work placement in Year 2.
Many graduates work in front-office management, in the food and beverage team as maitre d’hotel and management trainees, as events coordinators, and hotel group coordinators, duty managers, department managers, sales managers and trainee managers.

In addition to these options in year 3 a capstone project in the form of the IHI (Irish Hotel Institute) Game will recruit a number of students to partake in the competition each year.

"I think that the best thing is the practical classes that go hand in hand with industry studies; this means that even if you do not have any hospitality experience, you have a chance to learn! This also goes for learning how to use a reservations system in Rooms Division. The course overall is hands on and there is always a lot of support to help. I also like how there is an opportunity to go abroad for our placement in second year. The third year students of my course won the IHI – Game and one of my hopes is to follow in their footsteps when my times comes and also take part and bring home the win again! "
