TY TrailblazHER Awards 2026

The TY TrailblazHER Awards returned for their second year and were bigger than ever before. This year, we expanded our celebration of student achievements with 9 award categories, offering even more opportunities to recognise the incredible female students in Transition Year (TY) making waves across Ireland.

We believe that success comes in countless forms, and our mission is to encourage every student to pursue their unique passions and make their mark on the world.

From the classroom to the community, from the stage to the sports field – we shone a spotlight on the trailblazers who are already changing the world, one achievement at a time.

The Award Ceremony took place on 9th March. We welcomed 300+ students, teachers, and parents to TU Dublin Grangegorman to celebrate transition year students' achievements.

  • Leader of the Year: Iona Wynton (Coláiste na Sceilge, Co. Kerry)
  • Creative of the Year: Ciara Ní Rothláin (Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh, Co. Dublin)
  • Entrepreneur of the Year: Mary Ellen Moorehouse (St. Mary’s College, Arklow, Co. Wicklow)
  • Wellness Ambassador of the Year: Liela Ahmed Abdallah, Lojain Ahmed Abdallah and Amala Rooney (St. Leo’s College, Co. Carlow)
  • STEM Innovator of the Year: Freya McGaley (Naas Community College, Co. Kildare)
  • Sportsperson of the Year: Sarah O'Gorman (Rath Dara Community College, Co. Dublin)
  • Phoenix of the Year: Peterina Grealis St. Joseph's Secondary School, Co. Mayo
  • Community Hero of the Year: Emmi Brennan (Ardscoil na Mara, Co. Waterford)
  • TY TrailblazHER of the Year: Liela Ahmed Abdallah, Lojain Ahmed Abdallah and Amala Roney (St. Leo’s College, Co. Carlow)
