There are multiple ways to search for books and journals in TU Dublin libraries. You can search through our library catalogue and through Search All. Descriptions of what each can search for are below:
The quickest way to find out if the library holds the book you need is to search the Library Catalogue.
- This will tell you where the textbook is located and the shelf number you need to locate physical books. The shelf numbers range from 001-999 and are arranged numerically.
- You can search by title, author, subject or keyword.
- The catalogue will also tell the item type. It can also say if it's available to borrow or as a web-based resource.
- If an item is not available but has a record, you can place a hold on it through the catalogue.
- You can access eBooks and eJournals here too. To search for articles by title, use Summon, as explained below
- To find out how to access online books and journals off campus see the Library Essentials Libguide on Finding Information.
To search all of our resources, use Search All.
- Unlike the Library catalogue, Search All allows you to search for journal articles, as well as our books, journals and ebooks.
- Search All allows you to search by title, keyword, subject, author, ISBN and numerous other publication identifiers.
- You can filter results to increase their relevance by year, online availability, item type, location, subject terms and language.
- By selecting Full Text as a filter, you can get easy access to thousands of online articles
- Like the Library catalogue, it shows different item types. It also shows call numbers for physical items.
