Global Management Practice and Sustainability

The purpose of this module is to give the student a fundamental grasp on the challenges that all managers
face in an increasingly complex world. The module aims to be engaging and concise whilst communicating
the most important contemporary concepts in management and business, including sustainability.

20% Managing in the Global Arena

Gain understanding of international management. Review PESTI analysis. Develop insights on how to categorize organizations by level of internationalinvolvement. Acquire knowledge about how management functions relate to managing multinational corporations. Reviewideology about special issues that can impact managing in the international arena.

30% Managers, Society, Sustainability & Diversity

Define and understand the concepts of society, sustainability and diversity in the modern world. Explore ways to build sustainableorganizations. Develop an appreciation for the role that ethics plays in management. Define and understand the benefits andchallenges that diverse workforces bring to managers.

20% Managing Change, Conflict and the Virtual Office

Review the fundamental principles of changing an organization. Gain insights about factors to consider when changing anorganization. Consider the parameters of how to handle conflict as a factor related to organizational change. Understand aboutvirtuality as a vehicle for organizational change.

15% Managing & Entrepreneurship: Handling Startups & New Ventures

Gain an understanding of the three stages of entrepreneurship. Have an overall appreciation for the opportunity concept andunderstand the primary types of entrepreneurial opportunities. Develop appreciation for the role of opportunity exploitation andsocial entrepreneurship in society.

15% Encouraging Creativity & Innovation

Define creativity and gain an awareness of its importance in organizations. Review the guidelines on how to increase creativity inorganizations. Develop the concept, definition of innovation and an understanding of the relationship between creativity andinnovation. Create an awareness of the innovation process. Create awareness of the skepticism maze.
