This subject aims to review feedback control theory in time domain and introduce control theory in frequency domain. It deals with introduction to design of feedback control systems, time-domain and frequency-domain performance measures, stability and degree of stability, disturbance and sensitivity. In addition, some advanced PLC programming skills is introduced.
Control System and Analysis:
Differential equations; Laplace Transforms; Transfer functions of linear systems;Transient response characteristics and system stability; Disturbance andSensitivity; Transient performance and effects of poles and zeros.
Frequency Domain Design:35%
System bode plot; Open loop and closed-loop behaviour in frequency domain;Frequency response analysis; Gain and Phase Margins;
Classical Control Design Techniques:
Control system design, Root locus rules; Root locus compensation design; Lead,Lag, Lead-Lag compensation.
Programmable Logic Control (PLC):
PLC installation, editing and trouble shoot; Design, edit, monitor and test basicPLC programming using ladder logic and instruction list; Incorporate relays,timers, counters and data registers in a PLC program; Apply some advancedprogramming techniques.
