Module Overview

Professional Placement

The aim of this module is to provide students with practical, clinical based training across the biomedical science disciplines in a Pathology Laboratory. The placement module will consolidate the students biomedical science discipline knowledge and professional practice skills gained in stage 2.

The workplace education and skills training is designed to meet the professional requirements to practice.

This module is run in parallel with the Professional Practice module (BIOL3209) and integrates the learning on Practice Placement with Professional Practice skills.

The module consists of practical based, clinical laboratory work and the completion of a Professional placement portfolio of work. The portfolio includes structured training programme, covering key proficiencies and professional competencies required to practice as a medical scientist.

College based workshops cover various aspects of professional placement and evaluation of learning.
