This module is designed for students who have studied the language to Leaving Certificate or equivalent. It aims to further develop the four language skills acquired at second level, to introduce additional elements of the language of business and to broaden learners’ knowledge of France and the French-speaking countries

Understanding and using phrases and sentences related to a range of personal and professional situations.
The development of Reading and Writing skills
Reading and finding information in texts dealing with everyday material such as hotel literature, advertisements, prospectuses, menus, timetables and short, personal letters.Writing simple interconnected text on everyday aspects of the student’s environment.Writing an email to confirm a booking.

Life in contemporary French-speaking countries
Interactive hour with a focus on the target culture:Learning about contemporary culture and society through film
Learning and teaching will take place through the use of lectures, presentations and role plays exercises in the module. In addition to using text based material, students will be expected to make extensive use of relevant websites, external online audio and video resources referred throughout the course.
