Scaling Networks

Examination of typical switch architecture and design factors in a small/medium enterprise.

VLANs and InterVLAN routing

Revision of Virtual LANs, trunking, concepts and implementation. Introduction to InterVLAN routing, Router on a Stick, and Multilayer switching (using SVI and routed ports).

LAN redundancy

Spanning Tree Protocol, Rapid STP, analysis of BPDUs

Link Aggregation

Link aggregation using EtherChannel

Single and Multiple Area OSPF

Link State Routing Protocols. Single area and multiple Area OSPF. DR and BDR.

Implementation of EIGRP

Distance Vector Routing Protocols. Properties of RIP and EIGRP. Implementation and examination of RIP networks. Implementation of EIGRP networks.

Wireless LANS

Ad Hoc and Infracstructure Wireless LANs. Access methods. Planning of a wireless LAN and placing of Access Points
