The aims of this module are to provide learners with: an understanding of the technologies and processes involved in building web sites; the skills necessary to create web pages using HTML and CSS, and an appreciation of the role of web standards in the creation of usable and accessible content for the World Wide Web
HTML Structural Markup
• Markup languages and the separation of structure from presentation• The HTML element, tags and attributes• The basic HTML document• HTML text mark-up (headings, paragraphs, lists, special characters, other text elements)• Adding images to web pages• The HTML link element
Presentational Markup with CSS
• Use of style sheets• CSS concepts: rules, selectors and declarations• Text formatting and alignment with CSS• Colors and backgrounds• Units of measurement
