This module forms the first of two block placements and follows placement 1 in semester 2 (year 1). It provides students with the opportunity to link classroom learning with work based practice and facilitates the further development of practice skills in an early years environment. The placement affords the student the opportunity to “test out” their knowledge and skills within the safety of a well-structured and supervised work setting with the direction of an experienced competent professional. Students are required to be supernumerary to the staff complement of the work centre
Attendance on placement
Placement consists of a minimum of 24 hours per week of practice placement with an additional three hours professional practice (12-week block). This will be supported by pre and post placement workshops and supervision.Students will be assigned a placement mentor and university supervisor who will meet with and assess students during their placement.
