The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the importance of biological processes in the energy field. This course will take an applied look at a number of important processes that will be important in ensuring Irelands Energy Security into the future.

Biodiesel (Transesterification)

Feedstock for Biodiesel production, VegetableOil and Algae Oil; Scale Process Evaluation.


The Biomass market in Ireland; Efficient utilisation of Biomass as asource of energy – Gasification.

Data acquisition and analysis concepts.

The use of electronic systems for data acquisition. Appropriate techniques for the analysis of data and large datasets.
