Introduction to Finance

The subject is concerned with the analysis, application of financial and management accounting information as inputs into management and marketing decisions. The importance of this course is that it provides an understanding of the importance of financial management in a business context.

The aim of this module is to introduce graduate students to the main financial concepts that are necessary for managers. Students will be encouraged to develop appropriate analytical skills and to engage with the theory in a critical manner. Students will also examine current and future trends in Finance

The content will be delivered through a blended approach of lectures and case studies. The case studies will be used to stimulate discussion, analysis and decision-making. Emphasis will also be placed on the use of computer software and excel to generate financial information eg cash budgets, ratios etc
