Environmental, Social and Governance Issues in Financial Management
• Theories and systems of Governance. • Governance and regulatory compliance. • Stakeholders vs Shareholders.• ESG and strategic financial objectives. • ESG- related policies and guidelines. • The dependence of access to finance on ESG and sustainability factors. • The materiality of ESG issues in terms of their key characteristics, risks and impact that they can cause. • ESG considerations in investment appraisal• The organizational benefits and challenges of adhering to good practice in ESG. • Approaches to ESG and sustainability-related disclosures.
The content will be delivered through a blended approach of lectures and guest seminars. Case studies will be used to stimulate and guide discussion. Class sessions will consist of collaborative case discussions, exercises, and discussions.
