Module Overview

Virtualisation Technologies

Virtualization enables today's computers to run multiple operating systems and applications, making your infrastructure simpler and more efficient. Applications get deployed faster, performance and availability increase and operations become automated, resulting in IT that's easier to implement and less costly to own and manage. This module explores the role of Virtualisation in IT and how it is seen as an enabler of Cloud Computing. The student will learn how to create an efficient and expandable virtualised environment by installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting a virtualised infrastructure. The student will configure the following devices - routers, switches and servers for storage capabilities. Indicative technologies may include the VMware vCloud Suite - vSphere, vCloud Director, EXSi, vMotion, and vCentre Server.
