Module Overview

People Management Practice

The key purpose of this module is to encourage students to develop a strong sense of self-awareness and help them to develop a range of transferable skills, which are pivotal to successful Human Resource Management practice. The module aims to provide students with a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be an effective and efficient HR professional by utilising evidence-based practice.

The module is designed to help students enhance their future employability by providing them with the opportunity and ability to develop their knowledge of HRM, acquire skilful HR practices, apply a range of HRM theories and practices to core HR processes, and to reflect upon their learning and progress in transferable skills development. It will enable students to develop an essential people management skill set to ensure that organisations are appropriately resourced, that performance is managed and developed, and that the employment relationship is effectively handled.

Students will be encouraged to reflect on their learning and progress during the module through the processes of continuing professional development (CPD) and personal development planning (PDP). They will learn how to apply CPD and PDP techniques to develop, implement and review a personal development plan as part of an e-portfolio. In doing so, students will develop a range of transferable skills that will aid them in their role as a Human Resource professional.
