Module Overview

Work Placement

The work placement is a critical part of the overall course of study.  The work placement involves the student working in an organisational environment with a strong HRM dimension for a minimum of 15 weeks. Students will receive meaningful, study-related work experience, which will be of significant advantage to them when in post-graduation employment. The students will record their experience in a logbook and their performance at work will be assessed by their respective in-placement company via a questionnaire.

During the placement students develop an ability to apply human resource management and business processes and functions to actual Human Resource Management scenarios. Students immerse themselves in the basic concepts and functional areas of human resource management and learn how to place these in the overall context of the strategy objectives of the organisation. Covering topics such as organisational change, performance management, training and development, and employment law, this programme is designed to develop high performing HRM practitioners that can develop and implement innovative and strategic HRM solutions that will drive organisational performance.

The programme has been designed to align with industry technical competence and skill requirements, with the programme design aligning to the key HRM professional competency areas as designated by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
