Golf Course Design and Construction

The principles of golf course design. Planning and environmental implications for golf courses. The construction of Golf courses, including those elements of project management required, drainage issues, specifications for earthmoving and site clearance. Particular construction specifications for golf-course greens. The role of the USGA in Golf course construction. Californian and other construction methods. Growing in a golf green.Design and specification for the construction of a range of golf course features, including• Tee-box • Fairway and rough areas• Bunkers

Golf Course Management and Maintenance

Golf course management including safety statements.The rules of golf that effect course maintenance. Marking the golf course. The maintenance of golf course features including:• Hole changing • Tee-box • Fairway • Bunker

Golf Course Equipment and Facilities

The requirements for equipment in a golf course facility, the development of a suitable inventory, and the specification of such equipment. Ensuring the servicing, care and maintenance of this equipment. Implementing the safe operation of standard turfgrass equipment. Design and operation of a golf maintenance facility.

Agronomic Standards

Standards for greens, collars, tees, fairways, miscellaneous areas, roughs, natural areas, bunkers, water bodies, irrigation,landscaped areas and cart paths.

Safety and Security

Fire safety, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), hazardous equipment, tool safety and training.
