Geometric Design

  1. Principles of highway alignment
  2. Vertical alignment – minimum sight stopping distance and crest/sag curve design
  3. Horizontal alignment – sight-stopping distance
  4. Co-ordination of horizontal and vertical alignment
  5. Geometric design of interchanges and intersections

Pavement Design

  1. Structural design of pavements
  2. Types of pavements – rigid and flexible

Sustainable transport

  1. Social, environmental and economic sustainability
  2. Role of the street in sustainable transport planning
  3. Level of service estimation for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport
  4. Parking policy and sustainability
