Module Overview

Industrial Work Placement

The industrial links placement component of the programme provides the learner with a learning environment in which they may test and evaluate their skills, attitudes and knowledge acquired during the college based part of the programme. This should take place through paid employment in a suitable industrial environment. However, if the college is unable to place the learner in paid employment, the learner will fulfil the programme requirement by completing a reserach project under the supervision of a member of staff.

The aim of this module is to provide the learner with an opportunity to apply, in an industrial environment, the technical and transferable skills acquired in college.  This module aims to expand and develop the learner’s knowledge of industrial technology, systems, processes, organisation and practices and to provide opportunity to demonstrate high ethics along with health and safety best practice.  The module is also supported by the Communications 2 (Comm2103) module in relation to CV preparation and by the Careers Office via a bespoke work placement preparatory workshop
