Definition of an organisation, different types of organisations. Organisation design. Business Models, Organisation Culture.

INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS

System concepts, components of an information system, information system resources, IS acquisition/hosting options; information processing activities.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND BUSINESS

Role of managers, information and support for effective decision-making by managers, classifications of information systems and trends in information systems. The IS function in an organisation.

BUSINESS APPLICATIONS

The Internet, intranets and extranets in business. Electronic business systems and electronic commerce fundamentals.Enterprise communication, co-ordination and collaboration.
