The module is designed for students who have a foundation in business language and focusses on the skills needed for participation in a trade fair. It also aims to develop general language proficiency and to deepen students’ understanding of aspects of contemporary life in the German-speaking countries.
Ongoing: the development of listening and speaking skills
Developing the skills to deal with the main situations likely to arise at a trade fair in Germany, from visiting a stand to greeting clients and dealing with queries about products and services. Following the main points of a TV programme and film, narrating the plot and giving opinions.
Ongoing: the development of reading and writing skills
Understanding and preparing documentation for participation in a trade fair. Understanding and identifying the main points in a text.Learning the conventions of essay and summary writing and how to paraphrase information in own words. Reporting and giving own opinion on factual information.

Topic 2: Grammar and Structures

Topic 3:Life in Contemporary German-speaking countries
Aspects of German culture and society, to include education and student life, will be studied through the use of written text, film and Internet resources.
