There is an emphasis on group work and the module aims to help students in their transition to third-level education and to build good working relationships with their peers

Indicative Syllabus:
  • Site visits to major construction related sites (report to be written by the student in each case)
  • A series of lectures related to the industry (report to be written by the student in each case)
  • A set of essays on great engineers and major engineering projects and topics to be completed by the students
  • Emphasis on team work within the projects.

Assignment-based group work in studio sessions

The emphasis is on active learning and participation, using group assignments, case studies, class presentations, and discussions.
