The purpose of this module is to introduce first year marketing students to Information Technology, particularly the technologies and applications most relevent to marketing professionals, including web page development, internet technologies and digital marketing tools, mobile applications, and business productivity tools.

Introduction to I.T. concepts

Fundamental I.T. concepts: Input, processing, storage, output (devices); Communications technologies; Types of software and software development; Internet technologies.

Internet based systems

Social media: Capabilities, features and functions, benefits and issues. Applicability and relevance to digital marketing.Basic web design.

Software applications.

Mobile applications; internet applications, general business applications. Application development - fundamental software development concepts.

Business Productivity Tools

Professional application of business productivity software: Creation of effective presentations and reports.
