The purpose of this module is to develop the student's practical skills in Aseptic manufacturing, 3D-Organic Chemistry and Pharma Biotechnology.
Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
DNA Cloning (Plasmid extraction, restriction digestion, bacterial transformation and PCR). Protein purification and characterisation (Ion exchange chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, affinity chromatography and protein/enzyme activity assays)
3D Organic Chemistry
A series of practical experiments will be provided to teach and demonstrate essential skills in product purifications and analysis, separations and purification of racemic mixtures, optical purity and asymmetric synthesis
Aseptic Manufacturing
Practicals designed to provide the students with experience in a range of techniques associated with aseptic manufacturing. These include endotoxin testing, CIP/SIP and media fill operations.
