Module Overview

Operations Management

This module is directed towards students undertaking a course of study leading to the award of a Level 8 honours degree in manufacturing engineering. It is intended to give an overall view of operations management, the role of the Operations Manager and how operations differ from one organisation to another. Students will be introduced to contemporary operations management tools and techniques, and will develop competency in their application. In addition, this module gives students insight into how the operations function fits into the overall organisation

A lecture based method of delivery is used for this module, supported by tutorials where necessary. Case studies and a team-based Lean game are also used to support learning. In addition, students will complete practical operations management assignments, which will .allow students apply and consolidate their learning.
