Numeracy

Basic Arithmetic Rules; Fractions; Scientific Notation; Errors and accuracy; Significant Figures; Conversion of Units. Calculating the mean and standard deviation of discrete data sets.

Algebra

Fundamental algebraic operations and rules of algebra; Indices Rules; Transposition of Formulae

Equations

Systems of linear equations; Quadratic equations; Simultaneous non-linear equations; Application of logs to pH; Linear, log and exponential equations in one unknown variable.

Functions

Concept of a function; Polynomial functions; The exponential function and natural logs; Composition of functions.

Trigonometry

Trigonometric ratios; Sine and Cosine rules; Solution to right angled and non-right angled triangles.

Co-ordinate Geometry

Cartesian co-ordinates ; Distance between points; Slope of a line; Equation of a line; Parallel and perpendicular lines.

Graphs

Reduction of non-linear equations to linear form; Verification of experimental laws from graphs.
