This subject aims to equip the student with the skills to apply probability theory and statistical distributions to Electronic Engineering problems. It also introduces Maclaurin, Taylor and Fourier series and Differential Equations.

Probability

Calculating probabilities. Permutations andcombinations. The laws of probability. Reliability engineering: components inseries and in parallel.

Distributions

The binomial distribution: defectives. The Poisson distribution:defects,breakdowns. The exponential distribution: failure times. Continuous distributions, Cumulative Distribution Functions, Probability density functions, the Normal Distribution: percentageout-of-specification.

Polynomial Approximation of Functions

Graphs of Polynomials, Graphs of piecewise functions, Maclaurin Polynomials, Taylor Polynomials, Average of a function, Fourier Polynomials.

Introduction to Differential Equations

Using integration to solve separable ODEs
