The module is based around practical exercises, group work, directed reading and guided independent research. Students will be obliged to have prepared in advance of class attendance as classes will frequently be structured around particular readings and screening excerpts. The emphasis of the course is on ‘doing’ in order to encourage students to develop independent research, writing and presentation skills appropriate to the discipline of media studies. The class will be divided into small groups in order to facilitate peer assessed learning as well as monitoring of student progress.
