Module Overview

Introduction to Scriptwriting

In order to begin to acquire basic scriptwriting skills, learners will be required to examine their own media consumption. Students are encouraged to consciously broaden and analyze their media diet. From the outset, they will be introduced to standard script formats and expected to present their own scripts in such professional formats across all production modules thereafter.

The module examines some major production areas students will work in: writing for television shows; writing for drama; writing for documentary and factual productions. The module focuses on script fundamentals: idea development, format structures, narrative structures, and character development.

Students are required to attend a minimum of 75% of the module classes. Attendance will be recorded.
