Drama production and scriptwriting

Element one: Drama Production

This module will build on the practical production experience gained in year three. It will link the theory and practice of drama production and will bridge the gap between the academic environment of the student and the independent professional sector.

Element two: Scriptwriting-Building on previous modules, students will expand their understanding of developing narrative ideas from concept to final script.

Drama production: The module will involve a series of practical workshops where the student will build upon skills acquired in previous years. Students will be required to make short films that demonstrate an industry standard of technical quality.

Scriptwriting: Every student taking this module will attend a series of scriptwriting workshops in order to write and develop a graduating standard of short film.

Guest lectures: Throughout the final year, students will be invited to attend a series of masterclass lectures given by leading industry figures.

Tutorials: Ongoing tutorial contact with individual lecturers and practical production work.

Cinematography: Students will be required to master the use of an industry standard cinema camera, as well as demonstrate an understanding in building the camera and using a wide range of lighting instruments.

Editing and post production: Advanced post production techniques such as finishing a film to broadcast standard, learning the art of post production sound and colour grading, as well as final delivery.
