Storytelling

The aim of this module is to advance and build on the script writing skills acquired in Screenwriting 1 and Screenwriting 2, Semesters 3 & 4 respectively. The module further aims to move beyond script writing for short linear narratives by introducing students to non-linear narratives, scripting for documentary, and writing for a variety of discrete storytelling media platforms.

Scripts for Production

Writing industry standard short screenplays with final drafts completed and available for production in subsequent practical modules (semesters 7 & 8).

Variations in Narrative Structure

Non-linear storytelling: multiple plotting; multiple POVs; alternative endings.

Transmedia Storytelling

Exploring narratives across multiple platforms and formats: examples include writing scripts and/or treatments for film, comic books, video games, books, television series. Designing storyworlds.

Writing for Documentary

Documentary: styles of documentary; proposal, treatment & script writing; narration; storyboarding.
