Management defined, evolution of management theories, modern managerial approaches,The levels of management, the role of the manager in modern business

Management Functions: Planning & Decision Making

The role of planning and decision making within the organization, The Levels of planning, Strategic Intent, KPIs. Types of plans, The strategic planning process, Decision making at all levels.

Management Functions: Organizing and Organisational Design

The importance of organization and design, components of organizational structure, Resources allocations within the structure, approaches to organizational design, New forms of organizational design, Authority and Accountability

Management FunctionsLeadership and Motivation

The distinction between leadership and management, Leadership styles, Importance of leadership, leadership and Corporate culture, Motivation within the org, Motivation Theory, Current issues in motivation.

Mangement Functions: Control

The nature and importance of control, the types of control - Financial and Non Financial, the characteristics of effective control, Responsibility and Accountability.

Functional Activities within the organisation

Introduction to the various functions within the organization; R&D, Marketing, Production and Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics.

Current Issues in Management

Ethics and Accountability, Resources, Global Issues, Equality, Impact of technology on management practice.
