Module Overview

Ophthalmic Optics and Dispensing

This introductory module for dispensing optics students discusses the principles of optics applied to spectacle lens form. The design of spectacle lenses to minimize aberrations will be discussed. Students will learn how to measure and recognise lenses and frames. They will also learn how to correctly write and transpose prescriptions. They will learn the uses of prisms, and how to measure, resolve and compound them. They will study lens surfacing.
