Personal Effectiveness Competencies

Workplace Competencies

General Technical Competencies

Design lifecycle: system design, development testing and costing, technical drawings and schematics, research and development fundamentals. Operations management: industrial production and process basics, production and process monitoring, industry wide standards, project management and execution. Maintenance, installation and repair: general electrical, mechanical and instrumentation skills, maintenance, installation and repair of industrial instrumentation and automation systems, reliability and maintainability. Production in the supply chain: material handling, scheduling and planning, executing operations, managing inventory, supply chain management, work flow. Quality assurance: corrective and preventative actions, improving quality, quality assurance standards and procedures, statistical process control methods. Process and equipment health, safety and the environment: health, safety and environmental regulations and assessments, safety procedures.

Sector Specific Competencies

Context of automation: specific processess and automation types, automation projects, sector specific codes, standards and regulations. Measurement, sensors and actuation: process instruments and sensors, actuators, calibration, motor and drive control, installation techniques. Control: continuous and process control, discrete control, batch control, advanced control, building automation, control system documentation, visualisation and display systems. Communication, integration and software: industrial digital field networks, industrial communications protocols, data management. Safety and reliability: alarm management, reliability, machine safety, manufacturing safety, safety control systems, safe use and application of electrical apparatus, safety standards.
