Project Management

The aim of this subject is to develop the student's abilities to manage and contribute effectively to successful projects, both generally and in the context of Digital Marketing projects in particular. The student will develop an understanding of the tools and techniques available to support effective project planning and control, and the significance of inter-personal skills in high performing teams.

Project Selection and Planning

Project selection criteria; Project Net Present Value and pay back. Project organisation structure. Project definition phase. Scope planning; project logic diagram, work breakdown structure, responsibility matrix, project stakeholder matrix.Cost planning: cost planning map.Project procurement management; Request for Quote (RFQ), Request forinformation (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP).

Project Scheduling and Control

Project management systems and tools: activity networks, critical path method, PERT -program evaluation review technique, Gantt charting.Project methodologies overview: Project Management Institute (PMI); PMBOK Guide and Standards. International Project Management Association (IPMA). Projects IN Controlled Environments(PRINCE2)

Project Budgeting and Risk Management

Budgeting and Cost control; Project quality planning; Quality assurance plan. Risk management, change control. Project Implementation: Monitoring and managing progress. Tracking and managing the project budget. Project creep. Status reports. Performance reporting and closure.

Managing and Working in Teams

Attributes of high performing teams, creating a project team identity, team development. Team member motivation; Project communications; Interpersonal relationships and resolving conflict in teams;Creative problem solving tools. Fostering creativity in others.Leadership and project management skills.
