Module Overview

Final Year Project

This module provides the learner with a complex, experiential, learning environment where they are encouraged to integrate the skills and knowledge they have acquired so far in order to select, design, resource, manufacture, and present a project. This integrated approach to problem solving will give the learner a more in-depth knowledge of a particular aspect of automation engineering. This approach will also provide a greater feel for the issues involved when attempting to solve engineering problems while mindful of health, safety and best practice requirements.

The learner is exposed to a task-oriented work environment where will be expected to address technical and resource-management challenges. The module provides the learner with the experience of taking ‘ownership’ of a project. The project enables the learner to integrate previously gained skills and knowledge in a project. It also develops in the learner the confidence to apply their engineering skills to a complex problem without a fixed solution while acknowledging the requirements of health and safety legislation i.e. E.U. Machinery Directives and CE marking requirements.
