This module introduces students to the basic technical, procedural and artistic skills of radio production, including studio based & location productions for both live and pre-recorded programme formats.
Radio as a Medium
Develop knowledge and understanding as to how radio has developed as a medium internationally over time, with an appreciation for its strengths and weakness, leading to insight of how radio works best in engaging and entertaining the listener.
Equipment Operations
An introduction to the essential digital equipment used in studio and location productions and recordings, with emphasis on achieving competent technical and aesthetic operations for use with in-class productions.
Editing
Edit both originally captured and pre-existing audio through multitrack digital editing software, students will create short edited productions, emphasising both technical proficiency and editorial choice.
Radio Production Teams
An introduction into the roles involved in various radio programming formats, with practice of such roles in studio productions.
Programme Production
An introduction into the most common radio programme formats. Students will learn how to research, script, present and produce various programme types.
