Fieldwork Portfolio

This module prepares students for fieldwork in the social and community development sector, tracks their learning and development in the field and provides a vehicle for evaluation and reflection post fieldwork. The purpose, roles and expectations for student’s fieldwork supervisor and college supervisor will be explored.This will include a community profile of the area in which the learner will be based and a signed copy of the Statement of Principles. On return to ITB from fieldwork, students are expected to reflect on their learning and prepare a presentation on the application of relevant skills and knowledge to practice. This will include an identification of strengths and weaknesses and the generation of future plans for professional development.

Practice Placement and Evaluation.

• In this section Students will reflect and process their fieldwork experiences. This will be done primarily through presentations on placement experiences. This will involve reflective practice feedback and evaluations of: • Fieldwork experience • Agency • Specific learning for the student • Meeting of learning outcomes • Supervision Process • Difficulties experienced • Skills developed • Identification of areas for future professional development • Generation of a personal learning plan for future placement
